Tomatoes 

Tomato is a juicy, nutritious fruit commonly eaten as a vegetable, This vegetable of Central America has grabbed the attention of millions of health seekers for its incredible nutritional properties. 

Botanically, tomato belongs to Solanaceae or nightshade family of common vegetables, which also includes chili peppers, potato, eggplant, etc. Its scientific name is Lycopersicon esculentum!

 

Description

Beefsteak tomatoes get their name from there size and meaty texture, they have a classic tomato taste but just a little bit richer! They are heavy, reaching weights as high as four pounds, and they range in color from pink to vibrant red, to orange. Most of the beefsteak tomatoes are very smooth but there are some that can come rough skin.

Tomatoes are rich in vitamins A and C, and they are full of fiber. Field or vine-ripened summer tomatoes are higher in vitamin C. Tomatoes are also noted for containing the antioxidant compound lycopene, which may help protect against prostate cancer and heart disease. 

Description

The Early Girl is an early season tomato, usually around the size of a tennis ball at full size. Bright red, smooth-skinned and slightly flattened in shape, the Early Girl tomato is meaty and can be quite sweet and concentrated in flavor.
